Friday, Oct 22, 2021 – Even Day  

Today’s Highlights:

The School Store is looking for new members.  Any student interested in helping out with the school store this year please come to a meeting after school today in room 110. See Mrs. Hourahan with any questions. 


The homecoming dance is on Saturday night from 5 to 9 outside, rain or shine tickets are 10$ at the door. There will be a DJ, Photobooth and food truck so bring money to eat!

Week 5 of Andrew Chun’s science research project is underway! If you are receiving emails on Mondays, we hope you are applying the research to your study habits. Please, please, please, participate and don’t forget to take the quick survey today during your social studies classes.

The Environmental Club is pleased to announce “Environmentally Themed Months.”  The month of October is FALL FOLIAGE.  We are encouraging everyone to get involved with adorning our halls with artwork, a writing piece, or photography capturing the essence of autumn. Bring your submissions to Ms. Franzik in rm 317 or simply leave them in my mailbox.  


The next Debate Club meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct 27th.  The topic is should we continue using animal testing?


The next Chess Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct 26.  There will be introductory chess lessons coming soon.  Take a chance and learn something new!


The next YAR (Youth Against Racism) meeting is next Wednesday, October 27th at 2:15 in Room 212. New members are welcome. We will be organizing events soon. Come and make a difference!!!


Interested in international affairs and trying to make a difference in the world, come join the FAIHR Club. FAIHR stands for Friends and Advocates for International Human Rights. The FAIHR Club will be meeting Tuesday, October 26th after school in room 218. See Mr. Boeing for more details.

Today’s Highlights:

The library is closed today for Picture retakes. Grades 9 through 11 if you need a retake you must go during a free period or lunch. 


Club pictures for the 2022 yearbook are also today in the library, please check the schedule in the main lobby to see what time your club is taking pictures. 

 

Seniors there will be a retake of the panoramic picture today on the football field at 7:30, don’t be late, we will not wait for you.

The Spackenkil girls track team won their first ever home meet with seniors Sarah Chiarieri, Kate Gagliardi, Tess Turner ,and Natalie Romasco sweeping Poughkeepsie high school.

 The boys track team also defeated both Poughkeepsie and faith Christian academy by scoring 3 runners in the top 5 . They were Lorenzo Guzman, Satvik Kukreti, and Nathaniel Ruiz.

Today, is, Color Wars Thursday class colors are as follows: Seniors: Black, Juniors: White, Sophomores: Pink and Freshmen: Blue and finishing the week with spack spirit gear for Friday. 

The next Chess Club meeting will be today at 2:10 in room 421. All new and returning players are welcome.


Class News: 

Attention Sophomores: Please come to Rm #416 after school today and tomorrow, to help with hallway decorating for Spirit Week. The more people we have to help, the more we can get done, and the more impressive our hallway will look. Bring your friends; spread the word!! 

 

The seniors will practice for Flag football today from 2:10 -2:40 on the football field. The Jr/Sr Girls Flag Football game will be played on Saturday, October 16 at 10:00 am please come out and support your junior and senior lady spartans.

Today, is, Wild West Wednesday, tomorrow Thursday,  is Color Wars Thursday class colors are as follows: Seniors: Black, Juniors: White, Sophomores: Pink and Freshmen: Blue and finishing the week with pack spirit gear for Friday.

Huge thanks to all the social studies teachers helping Andrew achieve his goal of 500 participants a week!

Our second homecoming game is tonight Friday, Oct. 8th.  Come out and support the Girls Varsity Soccer team as they take on Millbrook at 6:30pm on the turf.  We will also recognize our seniors tonight!

The following is the practice schedule for those participating in the Jr/Sr Girls Flag Football game. Practices will be held from 2:10 -2:40 on the football field  Seniors: Tues, October 12 and Thurs. October 14  and Juniors will practice Thursday, Oct.7 and Wed. October 13.  You must attend at least one practice to participate and attend the meeting in room 216 at 2:10 on Wednesday, October 6.  

 

Picture retakes for grades 9 through 11 will take place on October 20th in the Library. If you need a retake you must go during a free period or lunch. 

 

Seniors there will be a retake of the panoramic picture on October 20th on the football field.  Please be there by 7:30, don’t be late, we will not wait for you.

Auditions for “Romeo and Juliet” will be held this Tuesday after school at 3PM in the auditorium. Please prepare one Shakespearian sonnet or monologue to perform for your audition. The first debate meeting will take place on Wednesday, Sep 22, 2021 @ 2:10 in room 208 to discuss this year’s plans.  We are welcoming new members.  Please come and find out what debate is all about.  Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.


The Environmental Club is pleased to announce “Environmentally Themed Months.”  The month of October is FALL FOLIAGE.  We are encouraging everyone to get involved with adorning our halls with artwork, a writing piece, or photography capturing the essence of autumn. Bring your submissions to Ms. Franzik in rm 317 or simply leave them in my mailbox.  


Chess Club will have its first meeting after school on Monday, September 27th in room 421 at 2:10. Returning and new members are all welcome to join.


Book Club will meet Wednesday after school in the library.

Spack Onstage is excited to announce our 2021-2022 season this year! Our fall play will be “Romeo and Juliet” and our spring musical will be “School of Rock: The Musical''! We are so excited to get started, and are looking for crew members, costumers, actors, instrumentalists, lighting and sound designers, or anyone at all who is interested! There will be a “Get to Know Spack Onstage'' informational meeting today after school in the auditorium! Come on down for fun and games, and bring a friend! See Mr. M in the chorus room with any questions!

Senior portrait retakes will also be taken today.  If you want a retake or did not get your senior portrait taken please come see Mrs. Stong, ASAP! Only studio pictures will be accepted in the 2022 yearbook.

Science Olympiad will be having its general interest meeting afterschool in room 317, today.  If you are interested in science topics, labs, electronics, or crafting, stop by and learn what we’re about.  This meeting is for new and existing members.
