Monday, September 16, 2019  – Even Day 

Today’s Highlights: 

  • The first meeting for the 2020 yearbook will be today in room 111. We need people for all kinds of jobs.  Please come and be a part of the team that will create an amazing yearbook! 

Class News:

  • Freshman: are you interested in being a student leader? If you are, please pick up a petition to run for a class officer or Student Government representatives position from the main office. Petitions should be returned to your class advisers Mrs. Oakley and Mrs Fahy by Sept. 24th. 
  • Pizza Thursdays are back, don’t forget pizza and soda will be on sale after school on Thursdays throughout the school year.  

Club Happenings:  

  • Computer Club will have its first meeting on Wednesday in room 109. Don’t just play on your phone, learn how to program it!
  • The Football Boosters Club is looking for volunteers to work concessions during home football games.  If interested please sign up outside Ms. Girard’s door...room 216.  
  • There will be a meeting for all students interested in joining Spack News and Media Photography Club on Tuesday, September 17 in the library at 2:15 pm.  We can’t wait to see you there.  

Student Info:

  • Interested in what you could do with a Computer Science degree? Do you want to know how large companies use computers to run their business? On Thursday after school, an IBM software engineer, will come to speak and answer questions in Room 109. See Mrs. Fletcher for more details.

Spartan Sports:

  • Girls Basketball workouts will be Mondays and Wednesdays at the high school 7- 8:30 pm 
  • Weight Room Intramurals after school Monday thru Thursday from 2:10- 2:45. 

FROM THE GUIDANCE OFFICE: 

  • The Counseling Office will be sponsoring a Financial Aid Workshop on Tuesday, September 17th at 6:30pm in the auditorium.  
  • Make sure to keep up with the college visit calendar.  This week in Guidance meet representatives from: Tuesday - University of Rochester, Wednesday - Bard College and Friday - Manhattan College
  • The Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff's Police Benevolence Association is sponsoring The Law Enforcement Explorer Program. The program provides hands on training and experience in the field of Law Enforcement. An information packet along with an application can be picked up in the guidance office or with Officer Doughty.

  • Current members of NHS should sign up for shifts for Saturday’s car wash.  The sheet is on the bulletin board outside 207. See Mrs. Tremblay if you are unable to work a shift on Saturday
  • Science Olympiad Meeting this Thursday after school in the MST room. We will be discussing the events and planning for our car wash on Saturday Sept 21. All new members are welcome!  Please see Ms. Prisco, Ms Franzik, or Mr. Herman if you have any questions or if you are unable to attend.

  • College Visits  - SUNY Canton will be in the Guidance Office today at 10am
  • The Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff's Police Benevolence Association is seeking to provide an innovative program for high school students in ninth through twelfth grades. The Law Enforcement Explorer Program is a nationwide program chartered through the Boy Scouts of America and Learning for Life. This youth program is offered by hundreds of Law Enforcement Agencies nationwide and has been designed to establish a positive relationship between law enforcement and the community while providing hands on training and experience in the field of Law Enforcement to young people in our area. An information packet along with an application can be picked up in the guidance office or with Officer Doughty.

  • Auditions for the fall musical “Little Shop of Horrors” are today from 6-9pm in the Chorus Room. Sign up for a slot as soon as possible on the Chorus Room door. See Mr. M for details. 
  • There will be a Senior Class meeting on Wednesday, Sept 11. Officer please plan to attend, everyone is welcome.
