Tuesday, November 12, 2019  – Even Day 

Today’s Highlights: 

  • Picture Retake Day is Today in the black box. Order forms can be found at the front desk in the main lobby. Get your picture taken during your free period or right after school.  Club pictures will also be today and the schedule for your club picture is posted on the main lobby bulletin board. Faculty, if you did not get your picture taken yet, please do so. 
  • The STA is hosting a district wide book swap today and tomorrow from 6-7:30 pm Come to the high school library to receive a "new" book for the ones you donated.  Faculty are encouraged to swap books as well.

  • Want to have more fun activities at the HS such as dances, entertainment, or even trips? Join SADD so we can make it happen! Next meeting will be Wednesday, November 13th in room 113. See Mrs. Nardis or Ms. Baker if you have any questions.
  • Attention Mathematics Team members: The next DUSO meet is Wednesday at 3:30 PM. See Ms. Pupko if you plan to attend and have not signed up. The next ASMA contest is Thursday after school in Room 112.

Today’s Highlights: 

  • It’s National French Week and today is the annual Crepe Day celebration after school in room 416. There will be all-you-can-eat crêpes. All are welcome. General admission is $3.00. The event is free for French Club members.

  • It’s National French Week and today is Blue, White, and Red Day. Dress in these French colors and stop by room 416 for a French-ship bracelet. The French Club will also be hosting its annual Crepe Day celebration on Friday 11/8 after school in room 416. There will be all-you-can-eat crêpes. All are welcome. General admission is $3.00.   • DEBATE CLUB meeting today at 2:10 pm in room 208.  Please be prepared to debate.

  • The next Dungeons and Dragons event will take place today.  We begin at 2:10 and will play until 3:15 Please bring a set of dice.  New players are welcome.

  • Please join Mr. Calderone, Mr. Romani and Ms. Joy for Spackenkill’s first ever Coffee House. Thursday after school in the library students and staff will perform poetry, music, art and more! Arrive early to sign up for a performance.

  • The Homecoming Dance is on Saturday, October 19th from 6:30 to 10:30. There will be a DJ, Photobooth, some rap from Spack kids and a Taco Truck, a menu has been posted in the main lobby! Tickets are $15 at the door. Please sign up any guests from outside the district in the main office.

Thursday, October 17, 2019  – Even Day 

Today’s Highlights:  

  • Any student that hasn't turned in the acceptable use technology form today will be locked out of their school account. 
  • Today is the last day to vote for your Student Government officers for this year on your chromebook. Students should check their school email for the link.  
  • The topic for debate team this week is “Is global warming a real issue or a political one?”  Please be prepared to debate today in room 208.

Class News:

  • Junior Class sign up for the powder puff football game is located on Mrs. Stong’s door. 
  • Seniors please sign up for powder puff out side room 216.
  • Any student participating in the Powder Puff game must get a permission slip from Ms. Girard in room 216.  It must be signed and returned to Ms. Girard before you can practice or play.  
  • The last practice for Fridays Powder Puff game for both Juniors and Seniors will be Today afterschool. You must attend ONE practice to be eligible to play on Friday, October 18 at 2:30 pm.  
  • Seniors interested in participating in the pep rally activities sign up outside Ms. Girard’s door. (Room 216)
  • Sophomore interested in participating in the pep rally activities sign up outside Mrs. Bogdan’s door. (Room 211)
  • Support your teachers and administrators in the annual Pie Throwing Competition. Donations support the Environmental Defense Fund.  Competitions include Mr. Desouza against Ms. Joy, Mrs. Prisco vying against Mr. Latino, Mrs. Hart and Mrs. Ms. McGuire and many more.  Donate so they don’t get pied!

  • This Saturday, September 14, National Honor Society will hold its annual car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in conjunction with the Environmental Club.  Please come out to support your classmates and friends.
  • Current members of NHS should sign up for shifts for Saturday’s car wash.  The sheet is on the bulletin board outside 207. See Mrs. Tremblay if you are unable to work a shift on Saturday

  • The Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff's Police Benevolence Association is seeking to provide an innovative program for high school students in ninth through twelfth grades. The Law Enforcement Explorer Program is a nationwide program chartered through the Boy Scouts of America and Learning for Life. This youth program is offered by hundreds of Law Enforcement Agencies nationwide and has been designed to establish a positive relationship between law enforcement and the community while providing hands on training and experience in the field of Law Enforcement to young people in our area. An information packet along with an application can be picked up in the guidance office or with Officer Doughty.

Today’s Highlights: 

  • Auditions for the fall musical “Little Shop of Horrors” are today from 6-9pm in the Chorus Room. Sign up for a slot as soon as possible on the Chorus Room door. See Mr. M for details. 
  • There will be a Senior Class meeting on Wednesday, Sept 11. Officer please plan to attend, everyone is welcome.  

Class News:

  • Freshman: are you interested in being a student leader? If you are, please pick up a petition to run for a class officer or Student Government representatives position from the main office. Petitions should be returned to your class advisers Mrs. Oakley and Mrs Fahy by Sept. 24th. 
  • Seniors the 2020 panoramic picture will be taken on Friday, September 13th at 7:30 on the football field. Yes it is early, but you can handle it, we need everyone there on time!
  • There will be a Junior Class meeting for class officers on Wednesday September 11th in Ms. Defreest’s room after school. It is important for all officers to attend.
  • Pizza Thursdays are back, don’t forget pizza and soda will be on sale  after school on Thursdays throughout the school year.
