Friday, January 17, 2020 – Odd Day  

Today’s Highlights: 

Class News: 

  • The Class of 2020 is selling Pura Vida spackenkill themed bracelets for $6.  See a class officer today to get yours. 
  • Who will be Mr. Spack 2020? This year's competition is on February 28th. Senior boys it is your chance to shine and win big prize money!  The sign up is on Mrs. Stongs door. Sign up today!
  • Juniors you can order your fan cloth! Look for the poster and order forms on the bulletin board in the main lobby. You can also order online, look for the website on the poster.
  • Junior Prom is April 24th at Cristo’s in Poughkeepsie. There will be a Prom Committee meeting on Monday January 27th in room 111. All are welcome.

  • Attention Mathematics team members: The ASMA contest has been moved to Thursday, January 23.

  • Are you a girl interested in cyber security? See Mrs. Fletcher in room 109 any day in January to get the access code and compete to win prizes. Girls Go Cyberstart prepares you for challenges that represent realistic scenarios and cyber threats! No coding experience required!!
  • Driver’s Ed packets are now available in the Counseling Office!  Deadline to return completed packets with payment and a copy of your permit is January 23rd, 2020.  Don’t delay, those who turn in completed packets first will have first picks on car slots!


Spartan Sports:  

  • There is a baseball meeting on Thursday, January 23 at 2:10 pm in room 4. Anyone interested in playing JV or Varsity baseball needs to attend.

  • Congratulations Mathematics Team!  Spack A took yesterday’s DUSO meet with 22​ point while Spack B and C were tied for second.  Emily Ma and Niick Ristic each scored 5. Alex Zhu, Sami Khan, Morgan Lo and Liam Moren each scored 4.

  • Let the Seasons Be Merry It’s time for “Holiday Hoopla” 2019 SGO is once again encouraging Spackenkill HS to spread some cheer this holiday season with daily theme days. Today - Our favorite - Ugly Sweater Day (Of course all SHS dress code rules still apply for every day and if wearing a hat or antlers, you may be asked to remove in class.) 

   Class News: 

  • The Junior class has Poinsettias available for purchase, see Mrs. Stong or Ms. DeFreest to get your beautiful holiday Poinsettia. They are $10

Today - Deck the Halls with Flannel Friday - Our favorite - Ugly Sweater Day (Of course all SHS dress code rules still apply for every day and if wearing a hat or antlers, you may be asked to remove in class.)

  • Due to school cancellation, auditions for “Hunchback of Notre Dame” will now be held today from 6-9pm in the chorus room. Callbacks will be the next day, Friday from 2;15-6pm. Make sure you sign up for a spot online AND on the chorus room door. See Mr. M with any questions.

  • There will be a SGO meeting after school today at 2:05 PM  in room 218. There will be snacks. All SGO reps should attend.

Today - Let it Snow -Spack “White Out” Thursday - Deck the Halls with Flannel Friday - Our favorite - Ugly Sweater Day (Of course all SHS dress code rules still apply for every day and if wearing a hat or antlers, you may be asked to remove in class.) 

  • Congratulations to all of the students who competed in the Poetry Out Loud competition on Monday! The judges were impressed by all of the performances. This year, first place is awarded to Carlie Sjogren, second place to Amanda Moore, third place to Diana To, and fourth place to Alexandra Sharp. The first and second place winners will be going on to compete in the regional competition at SUNY New Paltz next month.

Atttention Seniors: “Seniors in the City” will take place on Monday, December 9, 2019. Information packets and permission forms will distributed today through social studies classes . Extra packets will be available in the main office. Registration will be today and tomorrow, at 7:15 am and again at 2:05 pm in the main lobby. Registration is limited to the first 80 students that sign up, so don’t delay.  

 

Reminder Juniors -  Jostens will be here this Friday to take ring orders outside the cafeteria during all lunch periods.
